It is reported by the World Bank?s 2013 Doing Business Report that it is still easy to get access to credit for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in South Africa.? South Africa, Malaysia and United Kingdom all share rank as the countries in the world where it is the easiest to get credit.
According to Gerrie van Biljon, executive director of Business Partners Limited, this is promising for South African small business owners, as it will be the third year in a row that South Africa has achieved this ranking.
He also says that regardless of the high rating, there is still obstruction to access finance for the small and medium-sized enterprises and evidence that a lack of SME financing exist. The reason might be that SMEs do not qualify for the financing available or they may be uncertain of how to apply for finance.?? SMEs must recognise the significance of the tough situations that need to be satisfied to obtain financing.
